To identify yours, look for the stamped DuraFlex label on the liner itself, usually visible at the thimble or cleanout, or measure the liner outer diameter with a tape measure. The crown’s bolt pattern is also a giveaway: standard DuraFlex uses four ¼-inch bolts on a roughly 6-inch square pattern, while some aftermarket equivalents shift to a triangular three-bolt layout that will not seat.

If you can see daylight between the cap and the chimney top, or if the crown lists to one side, the bolts have backed off or the base plate has corroded through. Do not burn until it is addressed; an open flue in a wind event can pressurize the wrong direction.
